The Guardians of the Galaxy team, featuring Groot, Star Lord, Rocket Raccoon, Drax, and Gamora, instantly became one of the most beloved superhero squads in the nerd universe with its film adaptation.
The first installment of Guardians of the Galaxy is a comic book film from 2014. It is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. James Gunn both directed and co-wrote the screenplay.

In 1988, young Peter Quill's mother dies. She gives him a gift. Afterwards, Peter is abducted by a spaceship. 26 years later, Peter, who now grandiosely calls himself Star Lord, has become a Ravager, a space plunderer and smuggler who belongs to the gang of the alien Yondu Udonta. An old Walkman and a cassette are his faithful companions. The cassette contains Awesome Mix Vol. 1.

• The Guardians of the Galaxy first appeared as a superhero team in January 1969. In issue #18 of the comic series "Marvel Super Heroes," they were created by Arnold Drake and Gene Colan as a kind of science fiction version of "The Dirty Dozen."
• The heroes only received their own comic series in 1990. In their current formation, they have only existed in the comic universe since 2008!
• Star-Lord (Peter Quill) is half human, half alien. He was created in 1976 by Steve Englehart and Steve Gan.
• Star-Lord is a gadgeteer; he has no superpowers (similar to Iron Man and Batman).
• Rocket Raccoon is a cyborg raccoon with a weapons fetish, invented in 1976 by Bill Mantlo and Keith Giffen.
• Groot is a tree creature and belongs to the species "Floral Colossus." He was conceived by Jack Kirby, Stan Lee, and Dick Ayers.
• Groot was originally created in 1960 in Tales to Astonishment #13 as a monster intending to subjugate humans.
• Gamora is a true assassin. She is extremely agile, strong, fast, and deadly. She belongs to the Zen Whoberi species and is also the adopted daughter of the villain Thanos. Gamora was created in 1975 by Jim Starlin.
• Gamora is considered the most dangerous woman in the universe.
• Drax the Destroyer was also conceived by Jim Starlin in collaboration with Mike Friedrich.
• Drax was once a human named Arthur Douglas, but after his family was murdered by Thanos, his spirit was transferred into a body by the Titan Kronos. His sole purpose was to kill Thanos.
• The story of the Guardians of the Galaxy takes place in the 31st century.
