Guardians of the Galaxy – merchandise and posters in the Close Up Fan Shop

The Guardians of the Galaxy team with Groot, Star Lord, Rocket Raccoon, Drax and Gamora suddenly became one of the most popular superhero squads in the nerd universe with its film adaptation.
The first Guardians of the Galaxy film is a 2014 comic book adaptation. It is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. James Gunn both directed and co-wrote the screenplay.

In 1988, little Peter Quill's mother dies. She gives him a gift. Afterward, Peter is abducted by a spaceship. Twenty-six years later, Peter, who now boastfully calls himself Star Lord, has become a Ravager, a space raider and smuggler who belongs to the alien Yondu Udonta's gang. An old Walkman and a cassette tape are his faithful companions. The cassette contains the Awesome Remix Vol. 1.

  • The Guardians of the Galaxy first appeared as a superhero team in January 1969. In issue #18 of the comic book series "Marvel Super Heroes," they were created by Arnold Drake and Gene Colan as a kind of science fiction version of the "Dirty Dozen."
  • The heroes didn't get their own comic series until 1990. In their current form, they haven't existed in the comic universe until 2008!
  • Star-Lord (Peter Quill) is half-human, half-alien. He was created in 1976 by Steve Englehart and Steve Gan.

  • Rocket Racoon is a cyborg raccoon with a gun fetish, created by Bill Mantlo and Keith Giffen in 1976.

  • Groot was originally created in 1960 in Tales to Astonishment #13 as a monster that wants to subjugate humans.
  • Gamora is a true assassin. She is extremely agile, strong, fast, and deadly. She belongs to the Zen Whoberi species and is also the adopted daughter of the villain Thanos. Gamora was created by Jim Starlin in 1975.
  • Gamora is considered the most dangerous woman in the universe.
  • Drax the Destroyer was also created by Jim Starlin in collaboration with Mike Friedrich.
  • Drax was once a human named Arthur Douglas, but after Thanos murdered his family, his spirit was transferred into a body by the Titan Kronos. His sole goal was to kill Thanos.
  • The story of the Guardians of the Galaxy takes place in the 31st century
